The 2018 Golf GTI gets no more power in the US
A year before, Volkswagenpresented a facelifted Golf for the European market, but didn’t say all the details for US . We’ve got now some info about the US-spec 2018 GTI and Golf R before their presentation at New York Auto Show.
For 2018, all GTI different models will make 220 horsepower, therewithal of whether or not the Performance Package is ordered, not like the one before, where the base GTI was 10 horsepower short. The Performance Package is still stays an option for 2018–now, it just has of a front limited-slip differential and upgraded brakes. Both the six-speed manual and DSG automatic are taken from last year’s GTI .
European Golf R customers will also be able to choose between ordering a Performance Package with brakes from the GTI Clubsport and an Akrapovič exhaust
All 2018 US-spec Golfs, with the GTI and Golf R, will get new front and rear bumpers, a bit different appearances, and an upgraded infotainment system.
It’s easy to be disappointed with the GTI and Golf R because of the absence of a power bump, but genuinely, that shouldn’t these vehicles. The GTI and Golf R have never been the fastest cars , but are always the most well-rounded. As long as the GTI and Golf R keep their handling finesse and their incredible confor, we don’t need anything else.
