Peugeot’s next generation 208 supermini will be available as a pure-EV alongside conventional powertrains.

Peugeot developing a new compact platform which is able to deal with electrified powertrains, the popular supermini is set to be offered with a range of powertrain options. This allows the buyer to decide, and will see Peugeot’s range driven by customer demand.

Launching in full will be at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2019.

Peugeot chief Jean-Pierre Imparato told Auto Express:

“I’ll reveal this in full in March, but I don’t want the future to be boring. My message will be that each time I launch a new car, it will be electrified, but you will buy your Peugeot and you will choose your powertrain.

PeugeotSport are working on performance models with electric powertrains, and that he doesn’t believe stand-alone EV models like Renault’s Zoe.
