Petrol and diesel cars banned from some East London roads

Hackney and Islington have announced that from 3rd September this year, only electric and plug-in hybrid cars will be permitted to uses some roads in the two London boroughs during peak-times.

In a new measure, nine roads will be effectively closed to petrol and diesel cars between 7am-10am and 4pm-7pm on weekdays.

The affected roads under the new scheme are Blackall Street, Cowper Street, Paul Street, Tabernacle Street, Ravey Street, Singer Street, Willow Street, Charlotte Road and Rivington Street. – nextgreencar.com

The only cars allowed to enter during these peak periods will be those classed as Ultra Low Emission Vehicles (ULEVs) which emit less than 75g/km C02, including fully electric, the majority of plug-in hybrids and all hydrogen vehicles and some of the ‘cleanest’, least polluting, hybrid vehicles.
