Maroc Challenge Winter Edition 2019 – Stage 6: Lap of Honour for the Maroc Challenge

Last Updated: December 19, 2019By Tags:

The 17th edition of the Maroc Challenge successfully concluded this afternoon in Erfoud, the gateway to the Sahara, after six long, intense and competitive stages that have given us one of the toughest editions we can remember. The weather, the length of the stages, the impossible times, the terrain and, especially, the sand, have pushed the 180 participating cars to use every trick possible to keep going and reach the elusive finish line.

From the rain and snow of the second day, the ruggedness of the mountainous tracks over the Atlas, the fast tracks of the south and their dangerous ravines, the immense amount of dust, and especially the sand, which was the main protagonist of the Maroc Challenge from the end of the third stage and that in the end was the element that most marked the differences in a quite spectacular edition.

The winners of this 17th edition in the Adventure category were Hawk (C1), Team 32 (C2), Amatxorbe (C3), Decanto (C4), Leguas Fidalgas (Rookie), P&R Adventure Racing Team (SUV), Patates del Papiol (TT1), Lecha Motor (TT3) and finally in the Raid category the winner is the ASM Sport team, followed by MYMSA and the Biela Team.

Maroc Challenge has added a finishing touch to this edition in an awards ceremony that took place out in the desert, near the dunes of Erfoud, where participants gathered to say goodbye and celebrate an event that for many was the adventure of a lifetime. Rui Cabaço, the Maroc Challenge briefingman, highlighted the skill and high level of the participants and thanked them for their collaboration.

Finally, it should be remembered that on the 16th of this month inscriptions will open for the Spring Edition, which will be held from April 3rd to the 11th, 2020, departing from Saïdia, on the Mediterranean shore, and ending in Merzouga, in the shadow of Erg Chebbi.
