One charge targeted range of Jaguar’s EV – 220 miles

Jaguar is planning for its EV concept the range of 220 miles on one charge, which is near to the Shevrolet Bolt, rather smaller car. While comparing with the competition models, let’s mention that Jaguar is planning to stand in the line with biggest German producers and Tesla of course.  All this is happening in the time when the automakers are forced by regulators to cut down the emissions. Talking about the plans of other producers, it is worth to mention that Audi will start sales of the Q6 e-tron electric SUV in 2018, Mercedes EQ concept coupelike SUV will be introduced before the end of the decade, while Porsche plans to sell a production version of the Mission E battery-powered sports car by the end of the decade.

Ian Callum, director of design for Jaguar said about the I-Pace: “The Concept is a radical departure for electric vehicles. It represents the next generation of battery electric vehicle design. This isn’t just a concept. It is a preview of a five-seat production car that will be on the road in 2018.”

Callum said that the design is “bold” and a new direction for EVs. The vehicle can be 80 percent charged in 90 minutes and 100 percent in two hours using 50kW DC fast charging.

The concept is equipped with liquid-cooled 90kWh lithium ion battery pack, covering the entire floor of the vehicle, lowering the center of gravity and boosting the dynamic performance.

“The opportunities offered by an electric powertrain are huge. Electric vehicles offer designers much greater freedom, and it is an opportunity we must grasp. This is why the I-PACE Concept is developed on a new architecture which has been designed to optimize electric vehicle performance, aerodynamics and interior space,” said Callum.

The I-Pace Concept has the dimensions of a compact crossover with a 117.7-inch The wheelbase dimensions are 117.7 inches. Overall is 184.3 inches long and 74.4 inches wide with a height of 61.4 inches. According to Jaguar, acceleration from 0 to 60 miles per hour reaches in about four seconds.
