The Fiat 500X is the company’s subcompact, five-passenger crossover.

The 2018 500X is just as affordable as other pint-sized crossovers. So Fiat 500X inspired exterior design, high-quality interior materials, and good use of interior space are enough to make this one of one favorites in the class.

It’s offered with two engines: a 14-liter turbo four making 160 hp or a 2.4-liter four making 180 hp with a nine-speed automatic transmission. It comes in three trims, Pop, Trekking and Lounge.

For 2018 the Fiat 500X offers 16-, 17-, or 18-inch wheels and a dual-pane sunroof that’s available on all trims. The Trekking trim gets satin silver accents and unique front and rear fascia designs. It’s also the first Fiat available with all-wheel drive.

It’s great for pounding around Detroit without worrying about potholes, the wheels aren’t huge enough to take damage, and the steering/handling is more direct than I expected. I wouldn’t bash it up any curbs, but a little ground up road won’t affect it.  – Autoweek testers
