Florida man drove his blue Ferrari 360 off a dock near the Palm Beach

On the morning of Dec. 26, 48-year-old James Mucciaccio Jr. appears to have had a brief conversation with a police officer, which appears to have been about parking his car on the dock. Mucciaccio then entered the Ferrari and proceeded to back off the dock. Moments later accelerated toward the end of the dock and drove straight into the water.

Mucciaccio was not injured in … whatever this was, and drugs and alcohol were not found in his system, according to WPTV, after he was pulled ashore by a boater.

The Ferrari 360, on the other hand, is going to require a trip to the dealer to get the Never Driving Again scheduled service.

It would be interesting to learn what the police officer told Mucciaccio to prompt him to drive it into the water. Was it “I bet you $20 it won’t float,” or “Will it skip across the water to the other side of the inlet if you get enough speed?”

These are all valid questions that needed answering that morning, and unfortunately this experiment ended badly for the car. But at least now we know: Ferraris don’t float.
