In a fabulous show of trickle-down technology, Porsche revealed a hybridized type of the new Panamera. Using an electric motor and an electric boost system from the 918 Spyder hypercar, the new Turbo S E-Hybrid is the fastest car with four doors from the German producer.
This is second implementation of a Porche’s hybrid system designed for complementing extra performance
Name says itself, this is second implementation of a Porche’s hybrid system designed for complementing extra performance. The same 542-hp, 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 is still used from the regular Turbo, but it got some help from a 136 hp electric motor, power raises to a huge 671 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque. Like the other vehicles of the Panamera lineup, power is coming from the producer’s trick eight-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission.
For such heavy and big sedan, performance figures are great. 0-60 mph comes in a required 3.2 seconds, and the E-Hybrid doesn’t slow down til it gets a top speed of 192 mph.
As we all expect probably, this range-topping Panamera isn’t so affordable. Prices for the regular Turbo S E-Hybrid start at $185,450, and at $195,850 for the Executive model.
Stay tuned, cause we’ll get more and more information as we get closer to the car’s debut.
